forensicksWELCOME TO THIS POST. This is here to help you decode Walter's idiosyncratic terms for events on the barge as well as the timeline of important events for him (italicized!). The circulation of non-italicized info can be handwaved as desired.
January 2022: Flotilla - the ship crashes and everyone gets to chill for a year with no floods, breaches, or confinement with inmates, until the energy runs out.
August 2022: Three Ships Event
Misty Quigley (citizendetective) arrives March 2022 and graduates December 2023. Natalie Scatorccio (pitofguilt) arrives September 2022 and graduates in August 2023. Malcolm Bright (abrightboy) arrives in September 2022; his first inmate Neal graduates in August 2023, his second inmate Kikimora graduates in June 2024, and he is then paired with Walter. Misty is paired as a warden with Cater Bright in March 2024, and he graduates in March 2025.
August 2023: Network Flood - 4th wall event
Walter interacts with Misty! Woo!
February 2024: Toads & Diamonds Flood - like the fairy tale, stuff comes out of Barge passengers' mouths. A little dangerous.
Pyotr Stepanovich (mukha) arrives.
March 2024: Texas Daemon Breach - Daemons from His Dark Materials. These also appear in many other Barge events.
Walter Tattersall arrives.
April 2024: Dreamlands Special Event (Nightmare Flood) - although this is actually a "special event" (an event occurring due to the actions or even mere presence of Barge passengers), Barge veterans accept it as completely normal similar to Memento Youri.
Walter's memory of Misty Quigley is observed by Arthur Lester. Walter and Malcolm experience a childhood meeting, which Walter eventually chooses to incorporate into his identity unlike most breaches.
May 2024: Harare, Zimbabwe Port
Walter gets paired with Malcolm.
June 2024: Special Person Flood - the "VIP event", where Walter's presence on the barge is replaced by his grandma, "Lydia" (thirtyyears).
Walter is killed by the newly arriving vampire Eric. He becomes fixated on the idea of Trevor becoming the Monitor of Unpaired Inmates (which the man was in the past) and serving as a figurehead for the inmates and conceives of reinstating him through an "election" where only inmates cast votes.
July 2024: Redwall Abbey (Furry Little Creatures Breach)
In the breach, Walter becomes "sworn brothers" with John Silver. He organizes an "secret group" that includes both Silver and his friend Allan, thinking he's made it very clear they should not fight each other. Abel is murdered, an event discovered and announced by Malcolm who goes out of his way to put his foot in his mouth about inmates in the process, and this eventually leads to Allan and his boyfriend murdering Silver and almost immediately graduating. Walter binges the network and comes to the conclusion that Arthur and Natalie were manipulative bullies who convinced Misty she does not deserve to use her deal to ensure her freedom and happiness.
August 2024: Trial For Sinners ("Hell Flood") - a "special event" that resulted from the actions of Vincent Smith (monsterstoyou) and Hanna Falk Cross (falkeditupagain), despite the latter being "nerfed" by his temporary warden Hunter Tepes (badbutsad).
Walter discovers that Pyotr had an extremely traumatic experience getting stabbed by the inmate of Trevor, who was eerily indifferent.
September 2024: Enposib Port - the Barge passengers are confined to a cruise ship during an unusual port and can make requests.
Overcome with the perfect opportunity, Walter attacks Arthur Lester (which also psychically harms his partner John Doe) in the hopes of convincing Misty Quigley to change her deal. This ruins his reputation.
October 2024: Narrenschiff - the Barge passengers are forcibly taken onto "the Narrenschiff", another Barge. From Walter's perspective, they choose to weaken the hold of the Narrenschiff, randomly causing all its passengers to either stay, be transferred onto the Admiral's Barge, or disappear - effectively permanently murdering dozens of people, in a way that was not directly necessary to save themselves.
November 2024: Dawnlight Port - a rustic port where the water reveals one's true self, like a flood.
December 2024: Cold Flood - characters gradually get colder, eventually ending up as a fully conscious icicle, unless they engage in physical contact - and closer contact works much, much faster.
Walter has to hold Pyotr's hand through gloves and watch him suffer through only partially relieved cold for over an hour a day.
January 2025: San Ortrera Breach - an event where crime detection not dissimilar to the Admiral's is widely recognized as a dystopia when reframed as a surveillance-heavy city.
February 2025: Shoe Flood
Walter was in a coma for this one. But anyway, Trevor is demoted, Silver has disappeared (and Walter believes the dawnlight port shows this happened simply because he resisted), and Walter draws the conclusion that "maybe there is no reason" to justify the detention of inmates. Still, he finally makes the election plot happen.
March 2025: Stockwood Port
April 2025: Network Flood - 4th wall event
Walter contacts Callie Sadecki (bichette), causing him to confront Misty about his complete certainty that she has been lying to him all this time. He also contacts Stavrogin; Pyotr is his canonmate and suffers a total mental breakdown, so Walter declares to him, "let's do something".
